A long time ago, when the world was empty, four elements were born: air, water, earth, and fire. All four elements converged to create a world that flourished, and life began. Cities and lands were explored by 8 different races over time, from deep forests to seas, volcanoes to cold regions.
These lands and cities are depicted on maps in Heroes & Empires. There are currently 33 maps, with more to come in the future. The maps will be arranged in descending difficulty order. Each map will have a variety of battles. Battles are fought by the players, and the rewards are won by them.(1) Centra Forest
One of the world's last remaining forests, protected by the great chief "The Balancer," this is the secluded home of some primitive races. Certra was once home to massive vegetation, diverse faunas, and peaceful native tribes, until the rare Eternium ores were discovered. Many foreign races exploited, polluted, and shrunk the land. Its residents could only see the great forest of yesteryear in their dreams now. | ![]() |
(2) Openwater Port
Openwater is a port city unlike any other, with monster hunters, dock-gangs, indigenous peoples, and traders from all over the known world calling it home. This is also the only location where the Naga can be found without being killed at first sight. It became a vital stop for trade ships traveling near the Serpent Islands over time. Almost anything, from outlawed technologies to the favor of local crime lords, can be purchased here. There is no better place to seek fame and fortune, despite the fact that death lurks in every alleyway and the law is almost non-existent. | ![]() |
(3) Eastern City
The world's third most populous city is rich in culture and wealth. Having such status, however, is not always a good thing, because the city's authoritarian government is paranoid about keeping the city's wealth and power safe from other neighbors. The Great Barrier, which stretches from West to East, is the result of that paranoia. It was built on countless tears, blood, and suffering from the city's own people. In the eyes of the government, the barrier is their crowning achievement, but from the outside, it appears to be a massive cage that imprisons them indefinitely. | ![]() |
(4) Sylora Desert
The unforgiving Sylora desert was once home to the powerful Solyran empire. The empire thrived and expanded under the leadership of its emperor, "The Conqueror." However, after a period of prosperity, the emperor's mysterious sudden death caused the empire to crumble, resulting in countless civil wars, famines, and epidemics. The glorious empire had been reduced to nothing more than a pile of sands in a decade, and had become a bedtime story for the descendants of the scattered survivors for millennia | ![]() |
(5) Loro Snowcap
Loro, with its sky-piercing mountains and eerie glaciers, is hailed as the most brutal yet majestic place on the planet. According to legend, it used to be a vast and green meadow cut across by a clean and calm river, with frost only at the top of the mountain. However, the inhabitants - the people of the Peace Kingdom - inadvertently opened an ancient tomb, releasing the Permafrost and transforming the entire area into a barren wasteland. | ![]() |
(6) City of Peace
The City of Peace, along with Loro, is Sunda's leading center of Eternium technology and mercantile trade. The city's great academies and their contributions to science are well-known throughout the land, rivaled only by Satin's eccentric colleges. The denizens of the city, a coastal nation, are utilizing the Eternium harvested from the nearby marsh as a source of energy to power the sleepless city. | ![]() |
(7) Eido Volcano
The Demon King Wye's domain, Eido, is surrounded by radioactive clouds that spontaneously erupt and thousand-degree hot lava rivers. Everything has been swallowed by a thick layer of smoke, and the ground is constantly shaking from the erupting volcano, leaving only the exiled mutant to survive. Eido's fate might have been different had the Demon King not happened to pass through the land and discover a large deposit of Eternium buried deep within the core of an inactive volcano. | ![]() |
(8) Arora Archipelago
Arora is a land of natural beauty and magic. Its people, who live in scattered settlements across this vast archipelago, are spiritual people who strive to live in harmony and balance with the rest of the world. Arora is home to numerous orders and sects, each with their own (often conflicting) paths and ideals. Arora, self-sufficient and isolationist, has remained largely neutral in the wars that have ravaged others over the centuries - until Satin invaded. Because of the brutal conflict and occupation, Arora had to reconsider its place in the world. It is unclear how it will react or what path Arora will take in the future; however, animosity toward Satin has resulted in militarization and vigilantism. The desire for the dark arts is increasing. | ![]() |
(9) Asgard
Asgard is a sprawling complex of glittering, soaring spires and sweeping buttresses, like a small world unto itself. Its architecture pulsates with light and is set against a luminous backdrop. (10) Aras Spring
The Aras Spring is a region located between the Certra Forest and the Loro Mountain. Aras is a peaceful place with vibrant forests and thousands of springs carrying the purest water on the planet. It is a place that ancient civilizations and mystical creatures have called "home." According to legend, all of the springs and rivers here originated from the Eternal Spring, a spring deep within a cave created by the Holy Grail. The water created by the Holy Grail is capable of curing all illnesses and restoring youthfulness and vitality; however, it loses its potency when divided into thousands of springs and rivers. As a result, thousands of adventurers have set out in search of the legendary spring and the Holy Grail. | ![]() |
(11) Modoon Swamp
For many centuries, Modoon was hidden from outsiders and enjoyed a golden age dedicated to knowledge, philosophy, and the preservation of magical artifacts from all over Sunda. The Modoon's capital, Undercity, was teeming with renowned archaeologists, astronomers, and scholars of every conceivable discipline, while the common people lived peaceful pastoral lives in the surrounding countryside. But such a lovely realm is only a relic of the past, a past shattered by a magical cataclysm. Now, Black Mist envelops the land permanently, tainting and corrupting it with its malevolent sorcery. Those who die within it are condemned to be a part of it for the rest of their lives... Worse, the Mist's grasp grows wider each year, capturing more souls across Sunda. | ![]() |
(12) Satin Empires
Satin is a fearsome empire with a powerful empire. Satin appears brutal, expansionist, and threatening to those outside its borders, but those who look beyond its warlike exterior see an unusually inclusive society where strengths and talents are respected and cultivated. Its people were once a fierce reaver culture until they stormed the ancient city that now serves as the empire's heart. They aggressively took the fight to their enemies, pushing their borders outward with each passing year, under threat from all sides. This struggle for survival has made the Satinans a deeply proud people who value strength above all else, despite the fact that that strength can manifest itself in a variety of ways. Anyone, regardless of social standing, background, homeland, or wealth, can rise to a position of power and respect within Satin if they demonstrate the necessary aptitude. | ![]() |
(13) Amethias Range
Amethias, the land of supernatural activity, wizards, and witches, is easily identified by the massive mountain range behind Certra's forest. However, the tsunami never arrived, and the massive mountain range became the Goblin's home. | ![]() |
(14) Garton Mountain
Garton, west of Sylora, is Sunda's tallest peak, eternally bathed in sunlight. Garton is located far from civilization and is nearly impossible to reach except by the most determined seeker. Many legends cling to this mountain, and it, like any other place of myth, serves as a beacon to dreamers, madmen, and adventurers. Thousands upon thousands had come, but only one had returned - a no-name traveler who, before dying, gathered his last breath to tell the story of the Golden City's secret gate. | ![]() |
(15) Baroon Prison
Every night, civilians in the Satin Empire's reach are terrorized by bloodthirsty creatures roaming and capturing innocent lives. Nobody knows what these creatures are, only where they transport their prey - the Barron Prison. The prison, which was once a part of an ancient city, is now infested with blood-sucking monsters, man-eating plants, and powerful spirits. Though they appear feral, those creatures attack every night in a very coordinated fashion, which helps spread rumors that they all have one master - the old governor of the ancient city, who signed a deal with demons to replace his soul with unimaginable power, in order to one day avenge the enemy who stormed his city. | ![]() |
(16) Serpent Island
The home of the tops of the food chain, the island of a thousand monsters, Serpent Island is known by a variety of names. The island, which has a unique ecosystem that has existed since the beginning of time, is home to gigantic, primordial beings with immense power that have no connection to the modern creature of the world. Despite its proximity to Openwater and the Orin Sea, no human, elf, goblin, naga, or even god dares to approach the island, with the exception of the monster hunters of Openwater, who regularly enter the island in search of riches, only to never return. | ![]() |
(17) Kobon Mine
The Kobon mine, one of the rare Goblin territories outside of Amethias, contains things that the Goblin value more than their own lives - gold and crystal. The area around the mine - a large chunk of Certra - is constantly shaking and polluted with loud noises and toxic fumes, with machines the size of a building digging and exploding bedrock day and night. Pollution isn't the only bad thing that comes from the mine; there have been numerous reports of Goblin miners going insane after returning from the deepest tunnels, or becoming ill after inhaling strange spore. Despite this, the Goblin continues to dig deeper, driven by a desire for precious rock and metal. | ![]() |
(18) Lista
Lista's civilization is shrouded in mystery, deep in the wilderness of eastern Sylora. These verdant forests, once part of the vast Syloran empire, are home to many strange and terrifying creatures, as well as possibly the world's oldest culture. (20) Abdul Oasis
Despite appearing to be a desolate wasteland of sand and wind, the Sylora desert still has pockets of life scattered about a thousand years after the empire's demise. The most gleaming example would be Abdul's free city. Abdul's caravans became wealthy through trade and banditry, and they could be found in every corner of the world. The city architectures are always exotic, extravagant, and colorful in order to stand out in the monotony of the desert. Such vibrant culture has a humble origin, as they are descendants of the Syloran empire, who fled the capital and stumbled upon this oasis while nearly dying of thirst. | ![]() |
(21) Underground City
A city unknown to many exists beneath the City of Peace. The polluted Underground City was once connected to the City of Peace, but it is now a massive junkyard floating on rivers of unknown chemicals. Despite its toxic environment, the city thrives, thanks to the technologies that occasionally drop down but are frequently stolen from the City of Peace, as well as the fact that it is a safe haven for twisted-mind inventors with unorthodox research and unsupervised experiments. As a result of these factors, the relationship between the City of Peace and the Underground City has become increasingly hostile. | ![]() |
(22) Orin Sea
Orin, an enigmatic sea ruled by Ashara, the Naga Queen, is known for paranormal activity and arcane magic. The constant presence of a dark sky, a lightning storm, and a tornado causes the sea to roar with enormous waves and vortexes that swallow countless passing ships. But those aren't the strangest occurrences; sometimes ship crews will jump off the ship to follow mesmerizing voices coming from the depths, or gigantic sea monsters sinking ill-fated ships. Rumor has it that Ashara is the one pulling the strings behind these disasters, all in the name of protecting her kingdom from the destruction that other races may bring. | ![]() |
